This is my story........

My photo
Wrapped in Love Quilts are memory quilts for all occasions with Hospice patients having priority. Wrapped in Love Quilts was created after I learned a friend of mine had terminal cancer. I knew how much she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. I didn't know what to say to her when I received the news of her cancer so I came up with a way for her to wrap the love of her family around her. I created a photo quilt of all her loved ones along with her grandchildren's handprints on the back. She called it her faithful companion. Sue Liston passed away on October 31, 2007. During the year 2008 I created many quilts for hospice patients and persons that needed a little extra love wrapped around them. As you view the quilts and read the stories about them, starting with Sue's(2008-#1), you will see what a rewarding journey I have been on. The quilts are a beautiful way to express love when words seem inadequate. Needless to say, I feel very blessed to be able to help others. #15 Hildred

Happy Mother's Day
Julie and her siblings wanted to give their mother a personal gift for Mother's Day. Their mother Hildred loves hummingbirds and flowers of all kinds. This quilt starts with photos of Hildred's birthplace and her parents all the way through to her beautiful grandchildren surrounded by tulips.

#14 Good Shepherd Home Health and Hospice

On May 16th Good Shepherd Home Health and Hospice will be holding an auction. Good Shepherd is the organization that showed me the rewards of making quilts for hospice patients. This quilt was created with photographs from around Clay and Cherokee County, North Carolina. I created the quilt but the following are the ones that made it possible: the photos were furnished by Mike Gora, Judy Grove, Bill Grove, Bill Killien, John Nealy, Jessy Garrett, the Clay County Chamber of Commerce and the Valleytown Cultural Arts and Historical Society. The fabric was donated by Karen Hopple, owner of Bless My Stitches quilt shop in Murphy, NC, and the machine quilting was done and donated by Russ Adams of Back Porch Quilters of Murphy, NC. My husband Tim made the quilt holder/shelf.

#13 Melinda

Melinda has just moved out to her first apartment and her Mom wanted her to have something to remind her of all the fun they have with their dogs.
Good luck Melinda!

#12 Grandma Dot

Happy Mother's Day
Grandma Dot............

Grandma Dot's daughter Gert wanted to give her Mom a special gift this Mother's Day. This quilt represents all the love, fun and appreciation of her family. Grandma Dot is simply a woman filled with love and determination to live. A couple years ago she had a heart attack and has survived cancer twice. Happy Mother's Day Grandma Dot!
Sunday, April 26th Gert could not wait to give the quilt to her Mom. Here are her comments:
Oh my gosh, Lynn... she LOVED IT! She is planning to take it to work tomorrow and in a couple weeks when we fly to Ohio for my cousin's wedding, she's taking it with her then too. Wow... she absolutely loves it! So cool! She says to tell you hello and thank you!

#11 Carolyn & Norm

In Memory of Julie When Allison's parents saw Allison's quilt (#10) they requested one of their own. They loved the way the quilt captured the life of their beautiful daughter. For their quilt we changed some of the pictures and the border color but kept the butterflies. Next week will be the anniversary of Julie's passing. Hopefully this quilt will help them through this difficult time.
July 29th Note from Carolyn: We absolutely love our Julie quilt. We have it up on the wall as a mural in our family room. It makes me sad sometimes but it's also very comforting to be constantly reminded of our Julie and how wonderful she was and how very much we miss her.
