This is my story........

My photo
Wrapped in Love Quilts are memory quilts for all occasions with Hospice patients having priority. Wrapped in Love Quilts was created after I learned a friend of mine had terminal cancer. I knew how much she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. I didn't know what to say to her when I received the news of her cancer so I came up with a way for her to wrap the love of her family around her. I created a photo quilt of all her loved ones along with her grandchildren's handprints on the back. She called it her faithful companion. Sue Liston passed away on October 31, 2007. During the year 2008 I created many quilts for hospice patients and persons that needed a little extra love wrapped around them. As you view the quilts and read the stories about them, starting with Sue's(2008-#1), you will see what a rewarding journey I have been on. The quilts are a beautiful way to express love when words seem inadequate. Needless to say, I feel very blessed to be able to help others. #34 Darrell's gift to sister Janice (3 of 3)

Although their family is like most moving away from their hometown, they all remain close at heart. They all have a special place in their hearts for their little sister Jamie (3rd picture in the second row) who died of cystic fibrosis when she was young.

The back of each of the quilts has a message Darrell wrote:
Life is fragile and fleeting....memories are vivid and worth keeping.

#33 Darrell's gift to sister Marie (2 of 3)

This family has such fond memories of their parents and their upbringing. Darrell's wife, Teresa, had fun helping with these quilts. Darrell felt his Dad was watching and chuckling as he and Teresa tied the knots on this quilt.

#32 Darrell Wilkey (1 of 3)

Darrell saw the quilt that was made for his wife when her father died (#24) and requested 3 quilts to honor his parents. This one was made for him and the next 2 were made for his sisters. He put a tremendous amount of thought and planning into the quilts. They include pictures of his grandparents, his parents from early days through their 65th wedding anniversary along with pictures of his siblings through the years. They had a special love in their family.
Tuesday, 12/22/09 Note from Darryl & Teresa: They loved loved loved their quilts!!! They said their kids will be wanting one. 12/28/09 ...these quilts you have made with so much love...they are just priceless....and will endure for many many years and hopefully for many generations to come. We can't thank you enough.

#31 Abby

Abby's daddy had surgery a couple weeks ago and is in critical condition. This quilt will hopefully help bring comfort to Abby while her Daddy is in the hospital. She is 4 years old.
Wednesday, Dec. 23rd is a happy day for Abby and her mother & grandmother! Today her daddy was able to eat broth, sit up on the side of the bed and talk to them. This is the hurdle that the doctors have been hoping for. What a Merry Christmas they will share. Friday, Dec. 25th Abby's daddy was awake to hear he is going to be a daddy again. Still a long road to recovery but they were grateful to be able to share a Merry Christmas.
Jason passed away March 17, 2010.

#30 Lynn

Lynn has been cancer free for the last seven years. Unfortunately the cancer is attacking her body again and she is undergoing chemo and radiation treatments. With this quilt she will be able to wrap her family around her whenever she needs them. She has a beautiful family and they all love her dearly.

#29 Happy 1st Birthday Jackson

Jackson's grandma wanted to create a heirloom for her first grandson. You can feel the love of all his family during his first year of life. This quilt has pictures of all his family members and all his "firsts". Everyone loves Jackson but Grandma's love is beyond words.
