This is my story........

My photo
Wrapped in Love Quilts are memory quilts for all occasions with Hospice patients having priority. Wrapped in Love Quilts was created after I learned a friend of mine had terminal cancer. I knew how much she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. I didn't know what to say to her when I received the news of her cancer so I came up with a way for her to wrap the love of her family around her. I created a photo quilt of all her loved ones along with her grandchildren's handprints on the back. She called it her faithful companion. Sue Liston passed away on October 31, 2007. During the year 2008 I created many quilts for hospice patients and persons that needed a little extra love wrapped around them. As you view the quilts and read the stories about them, starting with Sue's(2008-#1), you will see what a rewarding journey I have been on. The quilts are a beautiful way to express love when words seem inadequate. Needless to say, I feel very blessed to be able to help others. #6 Ralph Matheson

Barbara Moss loved and admired this man beyond words. She created all of the beautiful meaningful collages that describe his life. My favorite is the center. She said he loved his wife and all his family and all his friends AND his mule, Pearl. He said Pearl could do anything a tractor could do and more! He was and still is loved by his family and friends. The quilt has a collection of his family and friends names and what they thought of him. I loved making this quilt with Barbara, she came up with so many creative ideas showing his wife how much he meant to everyone. Ralph was a patient with Good Shepherd Home Health & Hospice.
March 7th....comment from Barbara:
Ralph love life. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And his family. He is my brother-in-law and friend. I can still hear him say, Barb I'll catch them if you will cook them. Talking about native trout from the creeks. My children were not fortunate enough to have a grandfather hear on this earth but in every way he was a grand dad to them. He helped to make them what they are today. We all have cried together, laughed together, prayed together and worried together. But now he is in heaven where he will never have pain again. If he has gotten up from the feet of Jesus he is now on the banks of Jordan fishing. He loved to be loved and to love others. And will be missed terribly. Love ya Ralph
March 10th...comment from Joan:
Lynn, I appreciate this so much. I knew the first time I heard you speak at the Miracle Monday cancer meeting at Freewill Baptist Church, that you must be a wonderful person. You'll never know how much my family and me will enjoy this. I took it to my nursing home where I am on the auxillary and had to show it to everyone. They thought it was so nice and so wonderful for you to do this for me and other people. Thanks.

#5 Hannah Layfield

Hanna is a sweet girl with a bubbly personality that makes everyone smile when they meet her. This quilt was made for her in memory of Jessi Patrick. Jessi and Hanna became friends while they were both patients at the Egleston Children's Hospital in Atlanta. At Jessi's funeral service at First Free Will Baptist Church of Hayesville, NC, Hannah remarkably sang her heart out. Hannah is starting another round of chemo today and can use all our thoughts and prayers.

Jessi's quilt is 2010 #14.

Note from Hannah's mom Tammy: We received the quilt this morning and were both blown away by it!!! Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into making something so special for Hannah. The nurses have been coming in and out all day looking at it and talking about how wonderful it is. We will treasure it forever. God certainly blessed us the day he brought Bud, Kathi and Jessi into our lives.....

#4 Sadie Murata

Sadie is the daughter of Jennifer & Ryan Murata. Julie Joyce is a very close friend of Jennifer and her daughter Abby is best friends with Sadie. Julie called for this quilt and it was made with Julie's description of Sadie in mind:
Sadie is the gentlest, sweetest six year old that I have met in a long time. Her tiny voice and her innocent smile will melt any heart upon introduction. The perfect little pixie with a whole lot of imagination. Loud and showy, Sadie is not. She is the child with her own quiet confidence that no one can shake. She loves to sing no matter where she is or what she is doing; this my friends, is when she truely shines. The child will belt out a tune that may embarass the heck out of any stickler, but she carries on indifferent to any adult hang ups. In Sadie's world she is center stage. In Sadie's world, "zippers are magical" and mac and cheese rules. In Sadie's world, sparkles are the most beautiful thing invented by man and those clothes she is wearing may make a fashionista nod in disdain, but Sadie can rock the stripes, polka dots and floral pattern nin one ensemble like nobodies businesss and dare you to turn that snarky frown, upside down. She is a talent like to other that just so happens to have cancer.
Please say a prayer for little Sadie. If you would like to follow her progress, send me an email and I will set you up on the Prayers and Wishes for Sadie site.
2/16/2011 Message from Julie: Love, love it!! Thank you very much.
2/22/2011 Message from Jennifer: Can I just tell you how much that quilt lights up our room and lit up her eyes? Thank you so much for all your hard work. :)
